Delicious Vegetarian Lasagna

Tonight my sisters and I made this vegetarian lasagna and it was heaven, and super easy to make so I thought I'd share it with you all :-)

First dice and slice some zucchini, eggplant, and carrots

And not to forget some yummy garlic

Then cook all the veggies (cook the eggplant slices in a separate pan) + garlic + some butter and add some tomato sauce after a few minutes
(don't forget to boil the carrots before adding them in the pan)

While the tomato/veggie mixture is sizzling, whip together some cheese sauce

Layer everything into a big dish... a layer tomato mix, some lasagna pasta, some cheese sauce and not to forget the slices of eggplant and so on until the dish is full
Put some grated cheese to top it off and then slide it in the oven for 25 minutes (180°c)
And voila!

Hope you all enjoy it! Have a good night :-)

Veggie days

Today is day 20 of my 40 days no-meat eating project... Over 13000 people have already signed up on facebook for this initiative which was set up to create more awareness on the impact of the meat industry on our planet. Did you know that for the production of 1kg beef about 15000 l water is needed...and  going "meatless" for one day shrinks your carbon footprint by 11m²! I'm a real animal lover and after reading and hearing some horrible stories about how this industry treats them, well obviously killing them isn't very nice but pretty necessary for the meat industry, but the way they do it is just so inhumane so when I heard about this 40 day action I immediately wanted to be part of it.
It's not hard at all and this might just be in my mind but I think I'm actually way less tired than when I do eat meat so I'm sure that when the 40 days are over I'll stick to veggie burgers :-) Every little bit helps the planet!
     Some yummy veggie things:
                                              * Cheese burgers
                                              * Falafel
                                              * I'm not really a huge tofu fan, I'd rather just add some more veggies instead but I'm still just starting out, so if you have a great recipe don't hesitate to share it here!

Spring!

I can't believe it's nearly April again, it seems like last years easter just passed... time flies so fast lately, I can't keep up!

I couldn't pass this chocolate egg while I was doing groceries today, I'm one of the worst chocoholics out there!
(already had 3 of them today! I know I'm crazy, but let me tell you they are YUMMY!)

Some spring-ish flowers that are brightening up my kitchen as we speak
(they look a little dead in this picture, but not in real life!)

My cute new shoes from New Look, u likey?

I'm in love with my new stripy t-shirt from New Look
(I went kinda overboard in New Look as you might have already guessed :p)

I bought this at a little flea market in Antwerp yesterday, this is going up in my office!

Hope you all have a great week!
love,
Alice

Sex tape

With a pounding heart and panting breath, I ran in my class 5 minutes late after standing in a non budging traffic jam for almost two entire hours! Before I could say something my professor said with a smirk "next time, don't stand in front of the mirror too long" I was still out of breath from running to my class so didn't reply and just gave her a little smile, but I wish I told her "Hey, I spent two hours in a car, ruining the environment for your little class and btw I only spent 15 minutes in front of the mirror"  unlike this professor who looks like she uses up an entire jar of selftanner, EVERY DAY!

It's weird when you are active in two completely different worlds... in the music industry I'm constantly talking and working with "adults" and they see me (well most of the time, i think :p) as an equal, but in school this isn't the case. You have to be careful what to say, and for some reason teachers still treat you as inferior. Even though I'm twenty, I still have to ask permission to go to the ladiesroom, am not aloud to drink in the library and  am not even aloud to use my laptop in class (don't ask me why). So it's weird that all of a sudden I have to act like a kid, whilst most of the time I have to act grown up and businessy to break through in the musicindustry...

Anyways, besides that I had a very interesting interview today. The girl who interviewed me is a journalist student investigating the hows and whats of becoming a "star". With all the social media today, does it help to get your name out there and does it make it easier? Or is it just broadening the competition and making it even harder for people to notice you? Is there such a thing as social media overload? Can people get sick of you tweeting, posting and blogging about yourself and can it cost you fans instead of getting them? I'm not sure about the answers. I recently just started posting Youtube video's of myself, even though I feel a little stupid doing it, but do you just have to grab every little opportunity available out there in order to spread your  name?
What do you guys think?

Let me know!

Happy Monday!

It's such a nice day today! The sun is shining, there's not much more I really need right now. Isn't it funny how one little thing can change your entire mood!? It's like these little chocolates with the flower, my mom bought them a few days ago, and as soon as I saw them, they made me happy (I know I'm weird!) but seriously, you don't need a lot, it's those little things that can make the difference.

Sometimes it's crazy how little you need to get annoyed, and end up wasting a day doing nothing but sulking around... I always feel stupid afterwords, because does it really matter? Sometimes I get frustrated about my whole music career, wanting it to go faster, wondering what I can do to make it go better... but if it just frustrates me and brings me down... that's not why I got into this career. I'm in it to be able to do what I love, and if it takes a while... that's normal but I shouldn't let it get to me... Just keep going with a smile on your face, and enjoy every moment of it... Because just even being on the brink or start of this big adventure is already something to be happy about and feel grateful for.

I went to Taylor Swift's concert yesterday and it was AMAZING! This girl is so sweet and talented and you can feel the love she sends out into the audience... She already was one of my favorites and is without a doubt a very big inspiration to me and one of the best song writers out there... but after yesterday I'm an even bigger fan (didn't think that was possible :p)! If she's ever performing near you, go watch it because it is so worth it!

Have a great week people! :-)
And don't forget to smile!

Why the face

The entertainment business is a very special industry of which I still have a lot to learn about, but the one thing I have learnt this far is that people are great at talking and boasting but then when it comes to "action" they're often as impotent as a 90 year old dinosaur. Name dropping is they're favorite waste of time, and telling people how busy they are is probably what keeps them so busy.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I hope I never turn into one of those people... so friends if you're reading this, when you ask me how I'm doing and I say "oh I'm so busy" then please slap me. I'm happy when I'm busy and hope it never overwhelms me, time management is one of the most major important things in this business, that is what I have also learned.
But when it comes down to it, I love singing, I love being on stage, and nothing else matters... So if you know what I'm talking about, don't let it get to you and keep following your dream, if you work hard and love being busy, then you'll get there ;-)
On another note, who thinks Charlie Sheen is highlarious?

Love,
Alice
